One of my recent polls asked individuals on Linkedin if they have ever freelanced. It's a reminder that freelancing is a journey and we are all on our own path (results below)... and that's okay.
These results are pretty accurate in my opinion. People have taken on freelance projects, some large, some small, to pursue their passion or earn a little extra money. For me, freelancing isn't just "helping someone out". Instead, it's about offering services in exchange for money... but sometimes you have to start for free.
The key is to know when to transition from a free program to a paid one. Remember your worth. When I started freelancing there were some basic stages that we probably all go through when offering services: Free > Low Cost > Slightly Higher Cost > Charging what you should. This is a natural process and as you develop your skills, and your business, you can charge more. Be patient with yourself as you grow your side hustle.

If you're just starting out as a freelancer or considering a side hustle, don't be afraid to offer your services to a friend or colleague for free or at a very low price. This is a great way to get started on your journey.
Freelance Tip #2
Do your research. If you want to offer editing services, find out what others are charging. Do an internet search or ask companies or individuals who are already purchasing these services from someone else.
