Have you ever felt stuck—not because you didn’t know the way forward, but because something inside you was holding on too tightly?
Do you know the feeling—when you sense there’s more peace, joy, and fulfillment available to you, but something keeps you tethered to old patterns?
?? The weight of what we hold onto can keep us from moving freely.
But what if true nourishment isn’t just about what we embrace—it’s also about what we release?
?? Imagine the lightness that comes when you finally loosen your grip on something that no longer serves you.
?? "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
There’s an old story about a monkey trap that illustrates this truth beautifully.
In some parts of the world, hunters catch monkeys by placing food inside a small cage or a hollowed-out coconut with a narrow opening. The monkey reaches in and grabs the food, but once its fist is clenched, it can’t pull its hand back out. Freedom is just a moment away—if only the monkey would let go. But, unwilling to release the prize, it remains trapped.
How often are we like that monkey?
We hold onto things that keep us trapped—not because we have to, but because letting go feels uncertain. Yet, when we finally release our grip, we discover something amazing: freedom was there all along.
?? The truths that changed everything for me:
? We can be grateful for thoughts, beliefs, or habits that once served us, and still realize the wisdom in recognizing when they have fully served their purpose and it's time to move on. When we let go at the appropriate time, everything shifts. ?? In our relationship with our bodies – we stop fighting and start listening. ?? In our spiritual lives – we trade exhaustion for rest in God’s love. ?? In our daily well-being – we experience more peace, clarity, and ease.
So if you’ve ever felt weighed down by what you think you “should” be doing, you’re not alone. True nourishment often isn’t about doing more—it’s about releasing what it's time to let go of to make space for what will serve best now.
