Freedom In Learning That I Don't Know It All

I'm going out on a limb here and using LinkedIn to do more than liking a post, sharing an article, or making a connection. I'm not sure this is the right venue, but here goes.
This week I hosted our 4th annual Market Update. It is a client appreciation event and an opportunity to share our thoughts on the markets, and what we're doing in client portfolios. It seems simple enough, and it happens hundreds of times in our industry. But last night, I was reminded that regardless of our "job", there are some things we just shouldn't do. That's a difficult task for me, because for some reason I'm tempted to think I can do it all - and that I can know it all.
In this case, we have experienced subject matter experts with deep knowledge on fixed income markets, equities, monetary policy, etc. As I was listening to them present, I thought to myself "Geez, these guys are good. I'm sure glad I'm on their team". As the wait staff brought out the meal, I was reminded of all the work Brianna did to coordinate meal choices, table assignments, and RSVP's. There's no way the event gets done without her owning this part of the night. I could go on about the staff at the venue, our marketing department who created the invitations, and the great prospect meeting that someone else coordinated for us earlier that day. Eventually, I get around to the fact that there are things I'm good at, and there are things others can do better than me.
Maybe I'm late to the game, but it's a freeing place to be when I accept that I don't have to have it all figured out. If you happen to be reading this (and I didn't yet delete it), and you're stretching yourself too thin - give some of it up. There's someone around you that can do a superstar job at whatever you're holding on to.
