Freedom of commitment

I realize that it sounds weird, but in fact, the greatest possible freedom is to commit yourself. If you look around, however, you can discover the opposite pattern. No one wants to make decisions anymore, because they want to keep their options open. This applies to relationships, as well as projects or your daily job. The motto: initially, I invest only 80% percent, because who knows whether or not something better will come along. But the opposite is the case. The more you decide to do something from the top of your head to the tips of your toes, the more you will experience an unimagined inner freedom, because in this way, you commit yourself and focus all your energy on it. I have a very simple system that helps me to clearly define my priorities. Whenever I face a difficult decision, I choose between two options: either I say oh yeah! From my heart to a choice (and, of course to all the consequences that result from it, the positive as well as the negative), or I decide to say big no. There is nothing in between for me, because I said goodbye to all the wishy-washy decisions a long time ago. My internal freedom meter thanks me every day. Because only those who commit themselves are truly free.
There is freedom in commitment. And you will feel it when you deploy the courage and take the leap. Our commitments make us more effective, efficient, and focused. When we lack commitment in our lives, we feel scattered, aimless, and ungrounded. When we make and honour our commitments, we feel focused, alive, passionate. When we commit, we feel certain, trusting, and full of abundant, overflowing energy. Our commitments save us energy!
Many people go through life not committing to themselves. They let the world “happen to them” and they do not commit to improving yet settle with living each day hoping and wishing. They search for something better and dream that something resembling the life they say they want will just appear. It never will. Until you commit to improving your life you are committed to double mindedness and confusion. You are committed to being in the search for a better life and that is exactly where you will remain. So say oh yes! Or No. There’s nothing in between.
