Sometimes I wonder about the people who write songs
Do they ever tell on the person for who they write them for
I mean, speaking the truth
Because there is always a fictitious reason to write
Like say, you find nature inspiring
Or maybe standing on that bridge made you wonder
It could be someone's pretty face
Some guy's pickup line
That you've heard a thousand times
But you found it cute this time
Probably because you've heard it after a long time
So, what do you say?
Would I ever drop you a message if I write a song about you
It's another aftermath that I don't know how to make a song
Or How to sing
Or How to write
Maybe, but not like you do
All I do is this
Describe these feelings
In fragmented words
That does not describe anything
That's going on inside
Maybe I would
Maybe I would tell you I wrote this about you
Maybe I'll send you a text
Or maybe I'll give you a call
On one of those old telephones
I'm sure we all have them
And wait for someone to ever call on them
There was a time when I prayed no one would call me on my line telephone
Because my internet connection would break
And I have to do the dial-up again
And now I'm willing to dial
Hundred times and over
Just to hear you
Maybe you could sing for me
Some off-tune song
Belting out the mondegreen so loud
I extend the receiver a few inches far
Eyes incredulous, mouth ajar
You never failed to amuse me
And now those wrong tunes are all that I remember
Sometimes I try
To remember you without being sad
That wasn't a bad time
Was even a good time perhaps
It's just that
I try to describe these feelings
In fragmented words
That does not describe anything
that's going on inside
