Free Project Management Software

I have been trying my hands on various software's over the period of time and here's my top picks.

Each software has it pros and cons, so use it basis your requirements.

First on the list is :

Asana : stands out for its versatility, offering both list and board views to suit different workflows. The "recognition" feature adds a nice touch of motivation, and the option to organize projects into portfolios provides a high-level overview of multiple initiatives. However, ease of use has dipped slightly, especially if you're not consistently managing tasks, which can lead to a cluttered workspace.

Trello : As the original Kanban board tool, Trello shines for its user-friendly design and intuitive setup. The seamless integration with Google Workspace and a smooth mobile app experience make it a breeze for teams on the go. However, it has limitations when it comes to effectively communicating project status with external stakeholders, as it lacks more robust reporting features.

Notion : Excellent for staying organized, tracking documents, and managing data. Its robust customization options make it adaptable to various needs, though the initial setup can feel a bit cumbersome. Maintaining organization standards requires someone detail-oriented to get the most out of it.

Airtable : Airtable combines powerful automation capabilities with seamless Slack integration, making it highly customizable and versatile. It feels like a more intuitive version of Google Sheets, though working with its spreadsheet-style features still requires a bit of familiarity with similar tools to maximize its potential.

MACH-AI : This tool, a recent find for me, offers an impressive free version and is refreshingly straightforward to use. It’s excellent for task organization and project communication, while also providing comprehensive features beyond task management, including cost management, project portfolio management, capacity planning, resource allocation, knowledge management, and SOPs—all in one platform.

MS Teams Task Planner : If you’re already using the Microsoft ecosystem, this tool is worth considering. It offers a simplified, Trello-like experience with seamless integration across Microsoft applications, making it easy to incorporate into existing workflows.

My all time favorite

MS Excel : The simple, intuitive and flexible Excel can be a handy tool when it comes to less complex projects, not every time you need a jazzy tool.
