A Free Practical Course in Current and Emerging Threats to Crops

Our lab invites you to join us for a?free practical course in Current and Emerging Threats to Crops?from November 1 - 4, 2022 from 07.00 AM Eastern Time and organized by Michigan State University.

This course will feature presentations from a panel of experts, followed by the opportunity for participants to ask questions. It is an opportunity for the global community to learn about the latest developments and best practices in risk assessment and management for pests and other crop threats.

To build this capacity, our lab is offering a 4-day virtual training workshop that will provide an overview of localized regional current and emerging threats to crops and the latest diagnostic, assessment, and management methods and best practices.?

  • Day 1:?Current Situation/Status?will cover current and emerging global threats in crops.
  • Day 2:?Surveillance and Diagnostics/Assessment of Threats to Crops?will cover surveillance tools for early warning systems, quarantine measures for exotic pests and diseases, and diagnostic tools and technologies for pests and diseases.
  • Day 3:?Risk Management of Threats to Crops?will cover options for integrated management of current and emerging threats to?crops, and present the following case studies: landscape ecology and agro-ecological/ecosystem approach, extension and outreach to farmers and service providers, and public-private partnerships for innovative technologies and management practices.
  • Day 4:?CETC Approach and Action Plan to address Current and Emerging Threats to Crops, participants from each region will develop and present their approach and action plan.

Participants will also be able to continue the conversation, interact with our presenters, and ask questions after the event on the website. Simultaneous, live interpretation and training materials will be provided in preferred languages.

Participants will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the training.
