?Emails flying back and forth, accusations thrown in and everyone fighting to defend each part of the business, management, owners, after a few months of back and forth, it was finally announced, we will be merging our operations with another company, this was decided without a meeting, an agreement, or a plan in place.

It felt like a Coup d'etat. Everyone seemed to be throwing everyone under the bus, depending on which backside, they were trying to impress.

It was sad to experience, watch and be caught in the middle of a family feud, but after 20 years plus being part of this company, I was asked to facilitate the changes, to make sure everything was running smoothly. I was there until the last item of furniture was loaded into one of our containers to either be moved or shipped overseas.

However, the outcome was unexpected. there were no goodbyes, thank you or acknowledgement of the services rendered for any of the management team or staff, nor severance pay honoured.

How does one recover from that? I learned earlier on, the best revenge is to be happy and move on. Easier said than done. The thought of working for another company was not an option. I resisted and finally decided to work for myself.

When one door closes, make sure you open the next one yourself. That was almost 4 years ago, armed with years of experience, knowledge, expertise, and years of putting out fires, prepared me for the next phase of my life. I’ve always been an entrepreneur with a side hustle, from exporting crafts, to selling properties. I loved the hustle and bustle of negotiation.

What I didn’t realise when I set out to work for myself was the need to adjust on ways, I got used to over the years.

·??????Delegating/ I didn’t have a team anymore, (it was me alone)

·??????No one was watching behind me. – I was my own boss

·??????I had to upskill.

·??????Take some courses, how to use social media, marketing, branding.

What I also learned was I needed help and although I had businesses before, this was something different. I worked with several coaches and in time became more focused on what I wanted to do and who I really wanted to help, my right fit client.

·??????I knew how to create Structure and the importance of having it.

·??????I knew how to implement Processes and the importance of having it

·??????I knew how I can help Entrepreneurs and Small business owners who are already in business for at least 6-12 months.

·??????I knew what it takes to run and grow a business.

·??????I knew I’m passionate about business and focused on results for my clients. ?

·??????I also know that I care a lot about my clients and their success and value their investment in me, something I never take for granted. ?

Today, I work with entrepreneurs and small business owners who have been in business for at least 6-12 months. Break free from overwhelm and feeling all alone in your business to becoming passionate again in what you do.
