LinkedIn Overview and 3 Secrets to Turning Connections into Clients—
Profile Checklist --- Plus recap and Bonus!
1.) Your Photo- It is easy, get a well done head shot. No pets, no kids.. save that for Facebook. Also put a nice background photo remembering to stay true to your branding, there should be consistency across your website, and social sites.
2.) Name- in this section- name only, please
3.) Headline is critical
Think “how can I help solve my clients problem” Think giving- not selling.. you should have a valuable freebie to offer so you can begin relationship before you ask for their hand in marriage ...lol ! (i.e. before you ask for the sale)
4.) Summary: Expand upon your Professional Headline – and support it
Share with people how you can help (solve a problem) be brief but strong. Share example success story of a happy client. GIVE your contact information in this space. Get a friend to review and give you feed back. Also review the Summary and full profile of the “top Profiles of 2017” look at the ones that you like and stick out to you. Mirror and adapt some of what you like for your own!!
5.) Fill out Profile from top to bottom as complete as you possibly can .. adding all the extra sections you can complete. An incomplete profile feels like the work of someone who will not finish the job .. DON’T make that their first impression of you!
6.) Search for yourself (not just on LinkedIn)
The concept here is twofold. You Do not want to find two or more of YOU on LinkedIn. Delete old profiles. It is against LinkedIn’s rules to have more than one! Just one you but as many company pages as you have companies! One per company..Also what does you profile look like from a public review. Make sure you look at that too~
7.) Customize your profile URL
LinkedIn provides you with a default URL which you can customize. So please customize yours. It just looks nicer and it is easy. If you have trouble, contact me. I will also be doing a video on YouTube showing you how, very soon.
8.) Share an article, photo or update
Whether you decide that once or twice a day.. or once or twice a week is the right number of times to post in LinkedIn, I vote for ALWAYS publishing it as an article. This acts as a form of Blog and can be reused on other platforms. Also see the bonus to save yourself time with valuable content.
9.) Add as much Video, Photos and PDF Docs as you can…
10.) Join LinkedIn Groups
Select Groups that your ideal client would join, select groups that are related to the service or product you offer, and select groups that are relevant to the region you do business. Also create your own Groups when it makes sense.
Recap of 3 Secrets to turning Connections into Clients:
1.) Know your ideal client, create a specific target list of 50-100 (Businesses and or individual customers you desire) Use the advance search feature and “save the search creating emailed message alerts that drop new leads right into your email inbox!” Once you know who you want then you can ask for introductions. Also use the other tools I mentioned like the free Database site from the library. Contact me for more help with that if you need.
2.) Interact with your connections via Newsfeed and their posts, Groups and current discussions and offline- DO your homework on LinkedIn and offline (the prospects website, Facebook, and google them) find how you align with what they want and ASK for the meeting and go for the CLOSE… Remember eventually you must ASK For the SALE...
3.) The MONEY is in the list. Build your connections and contacts but house them in a list that YOU own. Set a calendar reminder to export your contacts (this includes email addresses). Do this for all your platforms. Even if you are using a web based CRM. You always want to back up your contacts and export them from sites you don’t own. Housing that information via a cloud storage and hard drive of your computer but also to a backup external hard drive…cover your bases… you can achieve any goal with a strong list and smart sales funnel.
Bonus- Create a Social Media Leverage Group. You must Really do your homework here… This is a mini group marriage of between 12-20. You want one person per industry –so be very exclusive – you want to have the ideal client in common.. so industry, size, location. If you can sell your product/service nationally then you should be in one group that is local (regionally) and another that is able to work nationally or just in the national group. You should create a closed private group on LinkedIn. Use Skype or Google hangout at least once a week. You may need a 2-4 hour first meeting to lay out goals expectations-schedule of social media rotating blasts-free offers to share with each other’s prospects. Review each member’s “Client Wish List”. You may be able to make some Hot intros. Decide how you will rotate featuring each member and working as a mastermind to focus on problems the team is trying to solve obtaining a desired customer. There really must be a strong sense of confidentiality here as well. But will serve you as a HUGE time saver and bring you desired targeted NEW clients!!! I am happy to help facilitate and help you achieve a working group. I will have future trainings and videos as well.
