A Step-by-Step Guide to Find Free Images
Using images during a presentation or report provides the perfect opportunity to draw attention to or solidify a point you are trying to make. Finding the right image can be challenging and, in some cases, expensive. Today's blog highlights how to find free images that have the proper usage rights, which protects you.
Step-by-step guide on how to find free images:
Come up with a few different keywords related to the images you are interested in. I like to have at least three different words that relate to my topic in case appropriate images are hard to find. For this example, we will be using the phrase ‘footprints on a sandy beach’.
Once you have your keywords, search for them on Google and click on the images tab.
Once on the search page, click on the tools button under the microphone and camera icons. The ‘tool’ button is right next to the settings button.
The tools tab has different options to help you find the exact image you are looking for. It offers the ability to search for images based on specific criteria, like the size of the image, color, when it was posted, what type of image it is and usage rights. Click the usage rights tab and select, “Labeled for reuse.”
Once you select criteria, your page will refresh with different images.
You now have a selection of great images that you can use for free without any legal constraint. This process works for any word or topic that you may be searching for.
I hope this guide helps you understand how to find free images for your use. The next part of this series will talk about how to ensure whether your image is copyrighted or not, and why this is important.
