Free idea: How to cut 15 mins from your next meeting

Are you working in a corporation? Then read further, this is for you.

All of us have participated those classical status meetings where "knowledge is shared and it is a place to keep each other updated". Well, we are approaching the end of 2017 and although the telcos are part of our daily routine, for some reason we haven't optimised the F2F meetings so far. Especially the ones with bigger audience involved (team, unit, project, etc).

I hate meetings.

I don't dislike people but I hate wasting an hour of my time on something that has no clear outcome and the content could have been covered in a tweet with 140 characters. However, mostly those status meetings start with

" Hi all! Let's start with a quick round where everyone tells what they are doing at the moment and what happens next."

This easily takes up to 2 minutes per person and with 10+ people, suddenly the first 15 minutes of the meeting are consumed. Don't get me wrong, the information definitely needs to be shared but I believe that there are better ways to do it. This is why I want share you a FREE IDEA that saves you those 15 minutes and you can get directly to the agenda with your colleagues:

  1. CREATE a group discussion on Whatsapp, FB, Telegram etc. for the people involved in the upcoming meeting
  2. ASK everyone to record a 1 min. video message 1 day prior to the meeting where they tell their status and ask for what they would need from the others
  3. DEMAND everyone to watch each others status videos before the meeting takes place
  4. START your meeting from the stage where status is clear for everyone and people are prepared to discuss
  5. ENJOY those 15 extra minutes by quitting earlier or getting to an actual outcome.

Comments and experiences are welcome as always. Enjoy your next meeting! :)

Time is not to be wasted. If it is not really needed to meet on a roundtable. There are other ways of handling a meeting.
