With this reality in mind, product managers, now more than ever, must relentlessly invest in their work skills and network with like-minded professionals.
Mass staff reductions, known as layoffs, occur because of economic downturns, gains in efficiency, over-staffing during past years, decreased profits, automation, generative AI(?), demonstrating cost discipline for Wall Street analysts, outsourcing and offshoring, and more.
Layoffs are the modern norm, especially in technology companies.
Winston Churchill, the great British WWII leader, famously said: "Never let a good crisis go to waste."
You are not to blame for getting laid off, but you are responsible for positively leveraging your downtime.
