Fraud & Compliance Product Updates

Hi, freight friend!

March is here, and at Truckstop, we're focused on helping you enhance your security and streamline your compliance processes within RMIS. This month's newsletter brings exciting updates, including the full rollout of our Risk Assessment System in RMIS, the addition of SMS verification for enhanced login security, and a sneak peek at upcoming CARB verification enhancements. We're committed to providing you with the tools you need to navigate the complexities of the freight world with confidence.

Let's dive in!

What’s New

Risk Assessment System is Live in RMIS Profiles

Our enhanced RMIS security checkpoint, Risk Assessment System (RAS), is now live with 100% of RMIS customers! Truckstop’s RAS enhances RMIS and is designed to identify and help prevent carrier registrants that possess certain characteristics commonly associated with fraudulent behavior from onboarding without your express approval. This new security checkpoint leverages Truckstop proprietary and other data sources to help RMIS customers identify potential risk posed by Interstate carriers attempting to complete your onboarding process.

If Truckstop’s Risk Assessment System identifies a potential risk, you will be notified, and the entity will not be permitted to complete your onboarding process without your approval. We believe you know your business best and have different carrier requirements and risk thresholds, which is why we’ve designed RAS to allow brokers to maintain complete control over which carriers are able to complete their onboarding.

SMS verification now available with RMIS

As we see bad actors targeting e-mail accounts as a potential vector of fraud, RMIS login moved from email verification to now using SMS verification as the priority method. Email verification will still be used with instances where the carrier does not have an SMS-capable phone number available. The RMIS gate override name has also changed from referencing email verification to now being called Code verification not required.

SMS verification is a safer alternative, phones are generally more difficult to gain access to than an email account. This is aimed to increase our ability to help you prevent unauthorized users from getting access to RMIS accounts and help our customers have better protection against potential nefarious actors.

CARB Verification Enhancements in RMIS

More automation is coming to RMIS. RMIS will routinely pull CARB Truck and Bus, Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU), Clean Truck Check (CTC) and Advanced Clean Fleet (ACF) data from the California Compliance systems.

Currently, the RMIS CARB module supports Truck and Bus, TRU, CTC, and ACF regulations where carriers self-report their CARB compliance during registration or within the carrier portal.

With the enhancement, RMIS will routinely update Truck and Bus, TRU, and ACF from California CARB compliance systems to provide you with a more efficient verification process. This enhancement is designed to remove the need for broker support teams to manually audit certificates of compliance, helping streamline compliance processes as California enforces regulations.

Please note, there is no online process for verifying CTC compliance so any self-reported compliance will be displayed as “Not Verified”.

Within RMIS Carrier Details, a carrier’s compliance status will be routinely updated and easy-to-read, ensuring that you have all the information you need to cover Californian loads with confidence.

Following CARB enhancements within RMIS, the RMIS Expanded Carrier API will also be updated with this capability, so a carrier’s CARB information routinely updated from everywhere you access RMIS.

That’s it for this edition of Truckstop’s Fraud & Compliance Product Updates Newsletter!

Until next time, stay vigilant.
