Frank
As Frank Sinatra was heading to his limousine one night, he came upon a woman who had been apparently waiting for him for hours.
She approached and said, “My husband’s sick and I just wanted an autograph for him to make him feel better.? I was hoping you could give me one.”
Frank, touched by her story, gladly gave her an autograph.
After Frank handed over the autograph, he took off the cufflinks he’d been wearing and gave them to the woman and said, “Give these to your husband, from me.”
As Frank got into the limousine, his friend asked, “What are you doing, those were your favorite cufflinks? You spent like $5,000 on them and you just gave them to that woman?”
Frank looked at his friend and replied, “We’re renting.”
This confused his friend, so he asked, “What are you talking about, Frank?? I don’t understand.”
Frank said, “When I die, somebody’s going to be wearing my cufflinks. Somebody’s going to be living in my house. Somebody’s going to be driving my car. Somebody’s going to be spending my money.”
Frank wrapped up the thought by saying, “If I have something and I can’t give it away, then it has no value to me.”
What Frank said about the tangible also applies to the intangible.
