Franchising. Is it for you?

If you’re facing redundancy at this time or choosing it and not quite sure what to do next in your professional life, do take a look at franchising and consider it carefully.

Franchising can be a brilliant route to self-employment and business ownership but it’s not for everyone. Self-motivation and drive are two requisites that most franchisors will look for when you approach them. You’ll need to be very astute in your due diligence to make sure that the franchise system you’re looking at really is well suited to you and often your family.

Don’t ever be rushed. A good franchisor will respect the time you take to review the opportunity carefully and thoroughly. In fact many of us will consider your pace as a positive and a sign that you’re really looking carefully. If ever you feel rushed or pressured to make a decision, then my advice would be take a step back and dig down even deeper. The pace of the entire process should be set by you and you alone.

Don’t be fooled by promises of an easy life, astronomical earning potentials and a working week of a few short hours. Remember ‘if it sounds too good to be true, then it most likely is’. Ask to speak to existing franchisees and if you can choose which ones to speak with so you get a truly rounded view.
