Franchising in 2022 - What's In & What's Out

Franchising in 2022 - What's In & What's Out

When I was growing up, one of the more unusual family traditions we had was reading the National Enquirer at the first of every year. You know, it's that tabloid at the grocery store checkout with crazy headlines about what movie star was an alien, or where the most recent UFO landed. You might ask why? My mom really enjoyed sharing the predictions for the new year, especially what was in and what was out for the new year.

Since we’re getting started on the year of 2022, I want to share with you what my predictions are for what’s in and what’s out in the franchise world.?

Out - Buying flooring at the Big Box retail hardware stores

In - Having a flooring expert come to your house with a mobile showroom of flooring samples - from engineered hardwood and luxury vinyl planks to carpet and laminate.

There’s a franchise for that! -The franchise is a great business for organized owners who enjoy managing projects with an interest (no need to be an expert) in interior design.

My clients, daughter and father, Julie and Alberto Piccone of Northville recently opened their location in Plymouth/Canton. I used them to have my guest room/extra office carpeted. It was great to see the carpet colors against the wall color and even my bathroom tiles. Julie and Alberto had installers to my home exceeding my expectations. Their installers were clean, professional and did a great job. Best thing, we didn’t have to go to the big hardware store and waste our time calling and coordinating installers. Plus, it was all within my budget that I would have had if I went to a Big Box hardware store. Call Julie and Alberto at Floor Coverings International (734)738-0020 for your flooring needs. Call me at (248) 590-7190 if you want to look into owning this franchise in your area.

Out - The Six-Figure Kitchen Remodel?

In - Redooring, Refacing or Repainting the Kitchen.

In fact, we have an upcoming webinar focused on one of these franchises. This franchise is targeted to real estate agents and is designed to update homes, including kitchens, to get houses ready to sell.

The other one is focused on updated kitchens with the consumer as the target audience. In fact, this franchise can save you thousands of dollars by refreshing your existing kitchen with everything from a quick refinish to repainting or totally redooring and resurfacing the existing cabinets. Think ugly old-school yellow oak cabinets being transformed into white shaker style cabinets. Of course, some people need all new cabinets, which Kitchen Tune Up can also provide. Call my clients who own Kitchen Tune Up: Amanda and Alonzo Schultz in Ann Arbor at (734) 340-2600 or Cheryl and Terry Wojcickij in Port Huron at (810) 488-9778. If you want to look into?one of these franchises, call me at (248)590-7190.

Out - Car washes that waste water, knock off your windshield wipers or scratch up your car.?

In - A waterless car wash that is popping up across the country.?

There’s a franchise for that!??

This waterless car wash is very technology driven, with an app that allows clients to schedule a technician to wash their car while they’re at the office, airport or charging their e-car at a charging station.? My FranNet colleague Ben Terrill's brother-in-law recently bought the rights to all of Orange County, California for this franchise. In Michigan, I see this being a great option for car owners who you wouldn’t dare run their pristine cars through an automatic car wash, ecologically minded clients and clients who want convenience.??Call me at (248)590-7190 if you want to look into owning this business.

Out - Not having a dog because you have a job

In - Dog ownership and a one-stop-shop serving your fur babies.

There’s a franchise for that!??

We have several franchises for a one-stop shop where you can get your dogs boarded, buy their food, get them groomed and everything in between but it’s not here yet. Other pet franchises with territory available include a low-cost dog walking and boarding business. Let me know if you'd like to see a recent webinar focused on these businesses.

Out - Relying on the youngest person at the office to fix all the computer issues.?

In - Using a managed service provider.??

There’s a franchise for that!

There's a franchise that is the nation’s largest and strongest network of independently managed service providers. The owner runs the business and may or may not have an IT background. Territory is still available in the area for this Austin, Texas based franchise with locations across the US and internationally. Contact me if you'd like to learn more about this franchise.

Out - Working for somebody else and having “big brother” constantly looking over your shoulder even when working remotely.

In - Starting a business.

There are many franchises for that!?

In fact, I have approximately 250 franchises in my FranNet inventory that have been pre-vetted to make sure they’re good, solid businesses from an ownership standpoint.

If you’d like to find out more, please let me know. It doesn’t cost you anything for me to help you find out what may be a good fit for you in terms of a franchise business.??
