Franchise Opportunities For You

Are all franchises the same? Not really.?

When I talk to most people about franchising, they think about the mail store, hair care salon, dry cleaner or pizza shop that they see in their neighborhood strip center or hamburger or sandwich shop that's freestanding on the pad out front.?

All of those things can be fantastic franchises. However, there's a lot more out there that people don't know anything about. In looking for the right franchise fit for you, you may want to explore some of those other options.?

Different Franchise Options

There are five basic categories of franchises including food, retail, automotive, business to business and consumer services.?

Food can be a great option, because it lends itself to empire building in multiple units. You can also manage the management. Be aware that with food, you will manage shrinkage, spoilage? and people! With some franchises, it may be required that you have food industry experience or an operating partner with food experience.?

Retail options can also be exciting with lots of growth potential and manage the management models too.? Be aware that with some, you may have to market to certain targets in your community to drive customers back to your location.?

Automotive franchises are interesting because we have more cars and we are driving them longer. They have needs for maintenance and repair. Be aware with some business, you may have to spend more time on sight to ensure good levels of customer service and financial management.?

Business to business franchises are often overlooked, because people don’t know they exist. They can be great Monday through Friday businesses that allow for great growth. They are different from consumer brands in that they sell their products and services directly to other businesses. This could require different elements of sales to get in front of the customer. It also could be a requirement that the owner manages the business in addition to handling business development. Examples could be sign manufacturing, IT services, or even staffing.?

Consumer service franchises could be those that are territorially-based and serve busy homeowners. These also can be great with Monday through Friday operations. There can also be a lot of scalable growth with additional people, equipment, vehicles and territories. Examples could be residential cleaning, home repair or remodel, yard maintenance and pool maintenance.?

There are lots of different opportunities out there. Which one is right for you?
