THE FRANCHISE OBSERVER

THE FRANCHISE OBSERVER

It's the end of another month, and we're thinking: "What a year!" It has been both better and worse depending on what country you are in. If you are in the US, business is booming... In the UK... Well, things are a little 'Rabbit in the headlights'. This newsletter is and will be packed with useful information and best practice that we pick both in the UK and abroad. Hopefully, this will help your franchise grow and thrive

Firstly. I have to commend the team at EWIF for an extraordinary awards ceremony today. We had a heart-rending talk by Claire O'Connel from Baby Ballet that I don't mind saying left me in a teary mess at the back of the auditorium. Her story of Franchisor survival during and through Covid shone a light on the very real and unseen mental health challenge that a great many franchisors suffer from.

I need not tell you that being a franchisor is unlike any other vocation and the pressure can be debilitating, BUT, as Claire said:

There is no 'i' in team... but there is definitely an 'i' in TRIBE!

And the franchising world is truly a 'Tribe' with all its normal internal battles and politics and laughs and arguments... but when the chips are down. We pull together and stand as one.

The State Of Franchise Recruitment

No alt text provided for this image

There is no doubt that franchise recruitment/development is all over the place at the moment. If you are in the US things have been very good for the past months. If however, you have been in the UK recruitment has in the main nearly stalled despite a good lead flow.

Franchise Buddies Sean Goldsmith from Groe Global & Dugan Aylen from The Franchising Centre will be showcasing the Southern Hemispheres famous 'frankness' by talking about the state of franchise recruitment and the problems faced by franchisors at the moment.

Social Media Success boosted by Great Content

We haven't made a big song and dance about it, but over the past year, Groe Social - our specialised Social Media division -? has been looking after content creation and social media marketing for a number of well-known franchise brands in the UK and abroad.

What has driven this success is the Franchise Relevant Content our clients have enjoyed. In one case a client increased their lead count from 70 to 300 in a matter of two months based solely on the copywriting skills of the Groe Social team. What is our magic sauce? Well, Tam says it best...

We are franchising people that 'get' marketing, not marketing people trying 'get' franchising

Tam Goldsmith - Groe Social

We totally get that social media can be overwhelming for a franchisor, especially if not well-versed in the world of Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.

So we handle it all for the franchisor in the background so that they can focus on being great franchisors, their franchisees can focus on being great franchisees and we can focus on being great social media specialists!

What really sets the Groe Social team apart is that they design much of their franchise development marketing around the sales process in order to complement and support the process and help guide and educate prospective franchisees through the social media and content they are seeing. It is not just about pretty pictures although... we are pretty good at those too!

People crave brands that make them feel something when they engage with them. That's where franchise brand storytelling comes in. Franchise Storytelling is what separates good franchise marketing from great, highly impactful franchise brand marketing. And social media is the perfect place to start." - Tam Goldsmith, Groe Global Co-Founder and Marketing Director

Groe Social Client Spotlight

We're thrilled to have recently completed the rebrand of Apollo Care, a domiciliary care franchise that provides 'caring' for seniors and vulnerable adults. The brief was simple. We need to reposition ourselves in the market and attract the highest quality franchisees. We also want our new look to drive sales for our franchisees. After delving deep into their business model and their incredible brand we created a look and feel that would position them as Premium and Niche. The positioning focuses on the fact that they put the 'caring' back into the care industry and that they spend a little extra time with their clients to make sure they 'feel the care' as well as experience it.

Here is a little 'Before & After'...

The Apollo brand served the company well and the look and feel was designed to be less intimidating than many competitors. But with global ambitions, Apollo needed a look that was going to work worldwide and be easily adapted to local markets.

The new logo and brand were an instant hit with both the Apollo HQ team as well as the franchisees who immediately started seeing a dramatic increase in client enquiries. In addition to the new branding, Groe has helped Apollo implement some groundbreaking Social Media Management systems as well as AI-driven reputation management which now ensures their brand's reputation is monitored and managed 24/7!
