France: The World's Largest Digital Center Will Open

Bordeaux, the UNESCO area in France known as one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is now opening a unique and permanent exhibition space featuring digital art installations in what was once a bunker from WWII.

The highly anticipated Les Bassins de Lumiéres (The Ponds of Lights) will be situated in a concrete bunker that was once occupied by the Nazis during World War II. The site is expected to open in April of 2020.

Not too long ago, the same organization known as Culturespaces created an exhibition of Van Gogh’s work at the Atelier des Lumiéres in Paris. There is also the well-known space (the first one) known as Carrières de Lumières located in Les Baux-de-Provence.

In Bordeaux visitors can expect considerable master works from artists such as Gustav Klimt, the 19th-century Viennese painter and Paul Klee, a Swiss German artist, who is known for expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. These exhibits will run through December 31, 2020. The space for Les Bassins de Lumières exhibitions though will be displayed across a much more expansive surface than that of the Atelier des Lumières in Paris.
