France’s foreign minister has said it would not grant the UK an extension beyond 31 October to negotiate its exit from the EU amid a “worrying” lack of progress in recent talks. The comments come at a tumultuous time for Prime Minister Boris Johnson after work and pensions secretary Amber Rudd resigned from cabinet on Saturday evening blaming Brexit inaction. Lawmakers are expected on Monday to reject, for a second time, Johnson's bid for a general election before October's EU summit. ? Here’s what people are saying.

British Airways is urging customers affected by a pilots' strike not to go to the airport. The Independent reports that almost all the 1,600 flights scheduled to and from Heathrow and Gatwick on Monday and Tuesday have been grounded, after members of the British Airlines Pilots' Association working for BA voted to strike over a pay dispute. Artificial intelligence advancements mean more robots, and more robots mean displaced jobs, but also new ones. According to an IBM survey, over 120 million workers throughout the world will need to be retrained in the next three years due to the rise of artificial intelligence. "Upskilling" these workers will be a big challenge as workers today require more training than ever to learn new skills – 36 days versus three days in 2014, according to IBM. Last week, GCP Student Living, which owns blocks in southern England, reported a 51% jump in profits to £92.7m. With food waste the less-talked-about contributor to climate change, a growing number of retailers and startups are using apps to alert consumers to food nearing its expiration date and using drastic markdowns to lure consumers and avoid discarding items. Copenhagen-based food waste app Too Good To Go claims to have saved over 938,244 meals in the UK. The average UK household throws away £355.68 worth of food every year, equating to a £9.7bn across the country annually, according to savings site VoucherCodes.co.uk. ?
