The Framing Effect

The Framing Effect

Ladies and Gentlemen, buckle up for a wild ride through the insane world of decision-making!

Picture this: you've got two choices for treating a certain disease, and we're not going to delve too much into the details, but suffice to say, they both work... But here's the thing - the first treatment is listed as having a whopping 80% success rate, while the second one is down in the dumps with a 20% chance of failure.

Now, let me tell you something, these two treatments are virtually identical! Yes, you heard it right, like two peas in a pod. But, oh boy, when it comes to making a choice, statistics show that most folks will go for the first one like a shot! And this, my friends, is the power of the framing effect.

We tend to lean towards options that are presented in a positive light, even if the other option is exactly the same. The negative description of the 20% chance of failure will be forgotten faster than you can say "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

It's not just medical treatments, this effect applies to everything - from politics to marketing and even, dating…

And there you have it folks, now that you know about the framing effect, you can use it to your advantage! By presenting your ideas in a positive light, you can sway the audience in your favour and achieve the outcome you desire.

Whether you're trying to sell a product, convince someone to support your cause, or simply make a good impression, the framing effect can work wonders.

So, go forth and frame your ideas in a positive light, and watch as they soar to new heights! The power is in your hands, my friends, use it wisely. Remember, a little tweak in the way you present things can make all the difference in the world!

It is interesting to watch this behaviour Peter. I was reading something similar last week talking about branded medicin versus unbranded medicin and how people choose. Essentially the article was about building trust in brains on auto pilot. Similar to your thoughts here. Good article ??
