#FrameItFriday (week 2, season 3)
Please give a warm welcome and a round of applause to the newest member of the #ChickPicotheDay family "Dixie". Her birth name was Canon 1DX but that is so, so boring. As you know, I name all of my gear because I don't know why, I just do ok?
I took the Tamron part of the family (aka most of my lenses) on a road trip to my usual camera shop and they got to meet Dixie to see if they could all work together as one big family. It was as if they'd known each other forever, like finding out you had a half-sister after 40 years.
I'm sure you may be shaking your head if and while you are reading this
"Heather, you write like you're in La-La Land".
I'm not, I just like to write my stories like this and make you shake your head or possibly chuckle.
Ok, enough of all of that. I was feeling the need for speed in the shutter department and holy Hanna, Dixie delivers it. She's built like a tank and weighs just as much as my 6D. I won't go into all the technical details but to say she "purrs like a Harley" (not quite as loud, don't want to scare the planet) but when you're shooting with her the shutter sounds like music to my ears. It's like holding a Bazooka in your hands lol. Dixie works well in all kinds of weather so I will have to suck it up when it's as cold as the Arctic Circle out if I want to get shooting with her.
Now I seriously have to get off my duff and get some more work to pay for this pricey gal. My credit card is in ICU on life support at the moment. So got any work for me? Shoot me a message I'm ready and so is Dixie and the gang!
If you look again at the image of my camera family you will understand why I am putting a total ban on me going into any camera store for a good long time and only for "essentials". Also, I will be selling my 6D (seen on the right in the front row of the photo) along with a set of "constant" studio lights (not shown) all at very reasonable prices and finally my kidney is for sale if you're in need (I'm joking, I'm joking).
Other than taking some shots in my kitchen (YAWN) I have yet to get out with her to shoot because (insert lame excuses here). Life....paperwork....invoicing.....yada, yada, yada.
Dixie was "what was in the bag" post from the other day. Do you like her?
Peace, love and kumbaya
Heather
