#FrameItFriday (week 17 season 4)
So, if you've been following me for a bit you know I have a thing about counting, tracking, etc. I don't count everything, just important things like "how many days until we do this?" or "how many days have we done this for?" For some of my friends my habit makes their heads spin lol. I don't count everything, in fact for YEARS I didn't count calories or lbs. So, on that note here's some stats for you (because I know you're DYING to know). 118 days ago I began walking daily with my walking buddy (ok, it's my daughter Shannon). As of yesterday we've walked approximately 987,495 steps (in my Merrell Boots) which is about 637 kms and gone on at least 30 trails a multitude of times (I highly recommend you use the AllTrails app) On the poor weather days we've done our steps via YouTube (@Rick's Steps from Dubai). We've lost some weight and toned up which is a great feeling and have been on some pretty gorgeous trails and 90% of them have been in #BrantCounty (a couple have been just outside that boundary). I am truly grateful to have had the time to do all this with my daughter and if it wasn't for her I'd still be on the couch. We're not stopping, no, no...it's a good habit we have acquired for sure BUT we will be pausing it for a bit while we prepare to move in FIVE(5) more days....FINALLY!
On that note I have mixed emotions writing my blog this week because it will be the last blog I write in Brantford. I've been living here about 15 years now. This is the place where I re-kindled my love for photography. My camera opened a lot of doors for me. I was able to capture some fine moments around our city and meet so many, many wonderful people, some of whom have become dear friends. I've captured weddings, engagements, families, babies, pets, houses (yes real estate), mayor galas, music festivals, live theatre and concerts. I've met a slew of mostly Canadian recording artists and Jazz greats at the Sanderson Centre and wtfest.ca and Brantford International Jazz Festival. Heck, I even met my husband here! There's been a few hiccups along the way but for the most part our life here has been wonderful but now it's time to begin a new chapter. I will continue with my #ChickPicotheDay and offer my photography services in our new town (including my annual calendar). First job I'll be focussing on adjusting to country living and getting serious about growing a vegetable garden and all that domesticated stuff. Of course exploring the new countryside and paddling new waterways with my camera in my lap is a given too. Be patient with me over the next month while we get settled please.
Initiallly I thought I'd have an opportunity to get around and say good-bye and dole out some hugs and all that but good old Covid has botched that up now hasn't it? So to everyone in my city that I've met and hung out with and have done business with and shared some laughs with I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunities you've given me, the friendships we've made and your support and kindness. This community has so much to offer newcomers and the support network is tremendous pre-covid we were rocking with a multitude of events and celebrations, the people here care and they still do but from a different perspective now due to lockdown. While you wait to get back to business as usual, support the many fine businesses here in town and get out on those trails if you're climbing the walls at home. There is so much beauty in this community and nature at your doorstep.
Thank you City of Brantford and hey Tweed, Ontario watch out, we're headed your way!
Peace, love and kumbaya,
Heather and the fam-jam
