#FrameItFriday (week 16 season 5)
This week's blog is being posted on the correct day, I checked and double-checked. It's Friday, and it's Good Friday and it's a holiday. Happy Easter!
So last Sunday morning as I sat and supped my cup of java the tranquil countryside exploded with a cacophony of squawks and shrieks and tweets. It was coming from across the road in the corn field. I threw on my Crocs (yes Crocs, well not official Crocs, the dollar store ones) and grabbed my camera and scooted outside. About 7 or 8 Turkey Vultures were scattered amongst the top branches of one of the big old trees that borders the field. A plague of Grackles shrieking in another big tree and quite possibly a few Canada geese on the ground in the field, I THINK there were some....I tiptoed (in Crocs it's more like bouncing) across the road, turning on my camera as I made my way to the ditch that runs alongside the field and road. I thought about crossing the ditch but I didn't want to startle the wildlife because I'd most likely stumble, drop and roll. That would wreck my camera. Anyhow, back to the story....through the lacy maze of grapevines and tree trunks I spotted the cause of the kerfufel was a gorgeous hawk perched on some scrubby bush. I think he's from down the road and decided to ship disturb the gaggle of other feathery critters congregated. My camera had a hell of a time focusing on him through all the maze of grapevines but 20 shots later I skimmed through and selected the 1st shot I fired of him (always the way). Shoot and spray as they say (or something like that).
I think Spring could possibly be here now (fingers crossed). Happy Easter folks however way you spend it. I'm looking forward to spending a bit of time with my family and quite possibly having a bonfire (weather permitting). Whatever you get up to, enjoy and stay safe.
