#FrameItFriday
#frameitfridayYesterday, I half-heartedly headed out to a new conservation area for a walk. It was drizzly and I wasn't feeling it because I knew the mosquitoes would be waiting for me (yes, I had bug spray). Half way to my destination I received a message from my husband saying a tree fell on our pond, he supplied a photo. I decided to forego my walk and return home because, there was a tree in our pond (sort of a lame excuse, but I used it anyhow). Standing pond side viewing the "carnage", it really wasn't as large as I thought it would be and it was one of the ash borer murdered trees that are scattered around our property. Oddly it had snapped about 1/3 up the trunk. It laid to rest across the one end of our pond. I actually sort of like it there and as luck would have it, a mother Green Heron had just kicked out her teenaged chick for what I believe to be his/her first adventure on it's own. You know kind of like when we were kids, that old story "don't come home until the street lights come on" or something like that. I completely forgot about bug spray (which was just in the house) grabbed my camera and proceeded to spend the next 1.5-2hrs walking back and forth around our pond taking shots of Jr. the Green Heron chick's first day of "providing for himself". The freshly fallen tree trunk acting as a pier was perfect training grounds for this newby. It was quite comical. Trying to catch fish and frogs through the duck weed, jumping to snatch dragonflies, catching pond algae (yuck to the veggies) and watch it groom itself. That baby feather mohawk stood tall and proud. I heard it's mother squawking from afar and watch it cower as a Great Blue Heron circled from above. I took far too many photos but it was fun. In this photo it is snagging the dried out remains of a spider which most likely tastes like a mini wheat without the milk. Yuck lol.Got plans for the weekend? It's going to be a cooker, hope you get to jump in a lake somewhere. I plan to. I've also just been given the thumbs up to shoot The Glorious Sons up the road at the Stoco Lake Lodge presented by #BigTicketSmallTown. It's sold out so it should be a heart pumping, sweaty Betty, partying dancing and singing time! I'll be dragging my butt like a bag of day olds come Sunday, this I know, but Dixie 2.0 needs to pass initiation. Have a great weekend!Peace, love and kumbaya,Heather #CanonGirl #photostories #HeatherCardlePhotographer@followers @topfans #SummerConcerts #Fledglings
