Fracking and carbon capture: are they worth it?

Fracking is the likely cause for methane to start percolating to the Earth's surface. In this case, the methane was released into a river, with sufficient flow to support combustion on the river's surface!

Lakes and rivers are only a small fraction of the Earth's surface. How much methane is released into the air and goes undetected? When you go for walks and smell rotten eggs, is it hydrogen sulfide pooling in a low area from a nearby methane leak? In aquatic systems, hydrogen sulfide will contaminate, toxify, and acidify the water.
SGL has an airborne sensing division that can map methane releases.

Saskatchewan touts the largest carbon capture project in the world. There are numerous reports of dead animals being discovered in low areas and of water fizzing like pop. Why? Because the 'captured' carbon dioxide leaks from abandoned wells and from ground fractures. When will it be people that die from carbon dioxide asphyxiation while going for a walk in the woods?
