Day in the Life: Commercial Account Manager

Meet Lauren!?

Born and raised in North Carolina, Lauren moved to Charlotte 5 years ago and began her career in the insurance industry. She joined the Foxquilt US team in April 2022, and currently works as Commercial Account Manager.?

So, tell us about what you do everyday.

A little bit of everything! I always start everyday with the same routine: check emails and process anything that came in overnight. By doing this, I have everything set and cleared for the day before phone calls start really rolling in around 9:00am. From there, my day bounces between answering phone calls, data management, working on monthly policy renewals, reaching out to clients over phone/email, and other small tasks that pop up.

Data Management??

It’s what keeps things organized and efficient for working with our clients. For myself, this means entering in, and keeping up-to-date, client information into our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, issuing certificates of insurance for newly purchased policies, following up on requests from clients–that range from updating contact information to answering questions about policy needs–and keeping up with the flow from the sales team.?

What’s it like working with the Foxquilt Sales team?

It’s fun! The people at Foxquilt are probably the best part of the job; the US team is amazing and interacting with them everyday is fantastic. For my role, I have to know everyone’s particular work style; each sales person has their own “flow” of how they do business, and it’s my job to know how I can insert myself into their workflow to make the insurance sales process as seamless as possible for the client. We have a great sales team that has strong experience in commercial business insurance, so it’s great to work with them everyday.?

Sounds like a lot! So how do you keep up with it all??

Time management and organization!! I have my daily routine that starts the same every day, and I work with a diary system; it’s essentially a bunch of notetaking. I write down when to follow up with a client, what specifics they have, what information I spoke with them about last time, what I need to ask next time, etc. It helps to minimize how much “research” I have to do with each account before speaking with them or working on a request. Foxquilt has a lot of new policies that come in each month, which means there are a LOT of clients that I help serve; the way I work ensures that I can help them as fast as possible.?

With everything that you do, what would you say is your favorite part of the job??

The office snacks! (Have you ever had a Sour Key candy?) But honestly, it’s the clients themselves and the relationships I get to build. I really enjoy having meaningful conversations with each client and getting to build lasting relationships with them. I help provide the human side of insurance, and we all know that insurance can be extremely daunting to someone who doesn’t work in the industry. I’m there to talk them through any questions they have and make sure they are doing what they need to do in order to be properly insured. Plus, it’s something new everyday; I can go from talking in detail about why someone needs commercial auto insurance to hearing all about a client’s daughter’s beloved cartoon character while I walk him through the payment process.?

Alright, last question to wrap things up: what makes a Commercial Account Manager such a critical position for an insurance company??

People who are on the sales team, they have a large quantity of policies to work through quickly; they are focused on providing insurance solutions at the exact time that someone needs it. For my role, we handle everything past the purchase point. I answer the questions they have, update information, recommend additional insurance coverages as someone’s business expands, touching base to make sure that their insurance is covering their needs, and more–essentially, whatever a customer could possibly need while being covered by Foxquilt Insurance, I am responsible for ensuring that we go above and beyond their expectations.?

A huge thanks to Lauren for giving us a glimpse into “A Day In The Life" at Foxquilt! Interested in being a part of the team? Check out our open positions and submit an application today!?
