#FourMinuteFridays - This Week at the PorterShed

Hello and welcome to another edition of #FourMinuteFridays - where we recap on some of the many highlights from the past five days at the PorterShed. This week, as ever, we have had lots of amazing visitors, we've enjoyed loads of fun, and we've been planning ahead for next week (already!). As we enter into the Autumn, we're reminded of changing times as the weather shifts a notch colder and the crisp air accompanies falling leaves. It's many people's favourite time of year - and there's certainly a lot of exciting change happening here at the PorterShed.

To start with, though, a bittersweet change as we're saying farewell to Megan Delaney who leaves us to start a new adventure elsewhere in the city. Megan, you've been a joy to work alongside as part of the PorterShed team and it's been fantastic getting to know you. We'll miss your presence at the front of house in Eyre Square and Bowling Green, but we're delighted for all the new things you'll get to experience in your latest venture. Of course, you're welcome back any time for a coffee and a chat - so don't forget us. Best of luck, Megan!

On Monday, we welcomed Seamus Lennon, Lucia Macari, and Arik Elberse to our Bowling Green location . We chatted about collaboration and mentoring, and we really enjoyed seeing the folks in for a chat. We're so grateful to have such an engaged business and academic community. We always love when visitors come in to see our spaces, and it's always fun to see where our conversations take us.

Our very own Elsa Lee brought pancakes in on Tuesday morning, and it was a great way to get the community together for a coffee and some tasty treats. We love when people come together - so, if you're looking to join our community (email [email protected]), that's exactly the type of fun morning you can expect on a regular at the PorterShed.

We continued promoting our upcoming coffee morning in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs - it's happening on Monday the 12th (this Monday) from 9-11 am, and you should come along! You can donate to the amazing cause right here! We'll have loads of raffle prizes on the day from the likes of the Connacht Hospitality Group, Paintclub, Caprice, Visage, and so many others. Plus, on Tuesday the 13th, loads of our amazing members will be doing a charity skydive in Offaly to raise funds, too - feel free to reach out and give them a shout-out on socials!

We continued amplifying our upcoming Pre-Accelerator with an open letter from our CEO Mary Rodgers and words of encouragement from Hannah Joyce of Akroo . We're really looking forward to all the applications that we are set to receive (and have already received!), and we're hoping you'll apply before the deadline closes on September 26th.

Catalyst is a technology hub focused on fostering innovation and developing entrepreneurs in Northern Ireland, and we were so chuffed to welcome them to Bowling Green on Thursday. You can check out some of the photos of their visit to us - and of their tour across Galway - right here ! You're welcome back any time, folks!

And last but by no means least, Irish rugby legend, Jamie Heaslip, paid us a visit during the week. Jamie is doing super work with Stripe and has built a reputation as a savvy tech investor. We loved sitting down with him in our board room for a chat, and it was great to meet rugby royalty! Why not check out the photo we took with him in front of our living green wall on our Twitter feed right here. Again, this is exactly the type of fun thing that happens at PorterShed on a weekly, so if you're not part of our community, you're missing out!

Before we let you go, a few things to signpost:
