#FourMinuteFridays - This Week at the PorterShed

Hello and welcome to another edition of #FourMinuteFridays, where we take you on a whistle-stop tour of all the amazing things that have happened over the past week. As usual, we've had lots of interesting updates, welcome visitors, and important news from our members. It's been a busy and enjoyable few days, and we really wouldn't have it any other way. As we step gently into October, we can really feel the change of temperature outside - so, it's just as well we have a great event space for hosting cosy get-togethers inside for the weeks ahead. So, why not join us for a fun recap, and give yourself a taste of what life is like at the PorterShed!

We welcomed the Galway Cartoon Festival team on site at our Bowling Green location this week - and they were busy prepping to welcome people in to view the phenomenal pieces they have crafted. You're welcome in to Bowling Green to take a look - there is a lot of colour, and some thought-provoking messages in the art they have hung up around. The place really was a-buzz with activity, and we even had Ex Ordo CEO and founder Paul Killoran in to help record a podcast with one of the talented artists (always love seeing Paul in, not least because he was influential in getting the PorterShed off the ground all those years ago!)

Our FREE Connected Hubs vouchers have started to be snapped up by people from all over the country. At the beginning of the second phase, we had some 50 vouchers available, and people are keen to get their hands on them. It's a great way to experience what life is like at a modern hub, and we'd love to have you in if you're keen to make use of a hot desk. You can avail of up to three vouchers, which means you could theoretically start your week in a hub in Donegal, before making your way down to Galway to finish up the week. All you have to do to get a voucher is act fast - and register on the connectedhubs.ie website. Simple!

Team Siteminder took part in an awesome clean-up at Cos na Temple, Bowling Green during the week. The PorterShed members are a great presence to have around the place, and they are pros at their day jobs, but they also proved pretty adept at painting, too. They rolled up their sleeves and helped paint some of the area to give it a bit of a lift. The initiative was all part of a fantastic way to help COPE Galway contribute something nice to the local residents. It's always worthwhile to give back to your locality, and Siteminder certainly played their part. Way to go, Team Siteminder!

A fascinating Blockchain Ireland event took centre stage at Bowling Green on Thursday evening - as the community came together to share insights and network. Two fascinating panels allowed all sorts of knowledgeable speakers to contribute their thoughts on topics like new modalities, the future of blockchain, and what sort of use cases we can expect to see down the line. Representatives from Blockdaemon, Norma Carty of Atogail Forests, Rob O' Shaughnessy of Metadomo, Dave Cunningham from Citi, and many others all took to the mic to engage in brilliant discussions. It's always wonderful seeing events come together - and kudos to Aoife Cheung and Production Manager Anthony Shaughnessy for a well-run ship on the night!

We also sent out our two newsletters - the PorterShed Monthly and Galway's Calling - this week. There's lots of great content in the Monthly, like interviews with Pipit Global's CEO, Ollie Walsh; a chat with Metadomo CTO Rob O' Shaughnessy; and a feature on Manna Drone's Darragh Kirwan. Plus, the jobs newsletter has over 16 jobs - and a fascinating interview with KAPPTURE's Richard Rondu. Make sure you subscribe here to avoid missing any future editions!
