#FourMinuteFridays - This Week at PorterShed

4 Minute Fridays at PorterShed?

The end of January and the start of February brought a great deal of excitement to the PorterShed. From launching an audiobook to commencing a global game jam, and everything in between, the past 7 days have been great for fully immersing ourselves in PorterShed a Dó. So let's not waste any time and get into what we did this week!

Last Friday, we welcomed the launch of Joanne Sweeney ’s audiobook version of ‘Public Sector Marketing Pro’, which was a huge success. Joanne recorded the audio for this version in PorterShed a hAon in Bowling Green, where she made great use of our podcast studio. From the booth at PorterShed to 40 audiobook platforms. This big achievement was well received in Galway, where those in attendance got a sneak preview of the audio, as well as some complementing slides. It’s great to see such talent and inspiration being shown here at PorterShed. Again, we’d like to congratulate Joanne on the release of the book and any future success.?

On Tuesday, the Platform94 (GTC) was announced as the first regional partner to bring together SMEs and corporate decision-makers as part of the new Innovation Exchange programme. The Innovation Exchange is a place where business-facing digital transformation challenges can be connected to innovative solution providers in help of guiding them to overcome these obstacles. The DigitalWest conference took place at the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) campus in Castlebar which facilitated the announcement of the Innovation Exchange Programme. PorterShed programme associate, Dushyant Singh was in attendance. A great step in the right direction for the West of Ireland. Looking forward to seeing how impactful this programme is in the future.?

Thursday was a busy day for the PorterShed as we welcomed Enterprise Ireland Industry management teams for a tour and to host their sectoral meeting. A pleasure to have such innovative guests use our facilities. As part of the Enterprise Ireland support infrastructure, we have managed to also fully install our 165-inch screen and surround sound. This will greatly aid in future events and meetings. Speaking of which, on Thursday evening, the Galway Triathalon Club hosted their new members and beginner’s evening in the PorterShed a Dó innovation space. An engaging introduction to the triathlon scene in Galway. Speaking about the event, Galway Triathalon Club Beginners Officer, Rosanna Loftus stated:

‘‘The atmosphere in the room had everyone talking about their first triathlon. Big kudos to the Portershed team, it was the first time we got everyone to sign up and really engage with one another”.
