Four Years Ago, Our Industry Went Dark

Four years ago, the UK government put guidelines in place to close our theatres, our museums, our concert halls and more beloved venues. A lockdown was imminent as COVID-19 began to spread. No one could have predicted the many ways this would impact our sector.?

Our industry went dark. We lost audiences and visitors, and our communities suffered. After four hard years of reopening, re-strategising, and restarting, things finally feel much brighter now. Our spark is back.

In these four years, we have lost iconic venues and organisations, and they won't be forgotten as new ventures begin. Our sector has gained newfound resilience and our community has never felt stronger.
