Four ways ThoughtSpot helps Snowflake customers consume more value from the Data Cloud

We use consumption as our north star metric at ThoughtSpot, just as they do at Snowflake. It makes sense. We want customers to use our platform and pay for its value instead of adding yet another piece of shelf-ware.

It's why we're relentless in providing the best analytics experience for the Data Cloud that drives usage. Here are four reasons ThoughtSpot is unquestionably the best analytics solution to deliver the most value to customers and ensure they consume their Snowflake credits.?

  1. Eliminate the need to move data out of Snowflake: Customers choose Snowflake because it is fast and provides unparalleled access to multiple data sources that can be shared with applications in real-time. This value is lost if a user has to extract and aggregate data outside the Data Cloud to perform complex analytical tasks. While Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI aggregate data by extracting it outside of Snowflake, ThoughtSpot performs all analytics on even the most granular data inside Snowflake. This ensures decisions are made only on the freshest data, removes the data ops challenges associated with sprawling extracts on desktops, and shatters the tyranny of averages by allowing fine-grained decision-making uninhibited by summaries of data that hide insights behind them. The old BI architecture of separate BI servers and desktop tools was built for on-prem databases that were not fast and elastic. Customers will get the most value from their cloud investments by removing these intermediate layers and enabling live analytics on their cloud data platform.?
  2. Show business users what's in it for them: It takes considerable time, effort, and resources to move to a cloud data platform. A project like that involves many months of work by the IT, security, and data engineering teams. With so much investment, business users expect big things from it. Simply saying that we have moved to the cloud and everything will be faster is not enough. It doesn't matter how long it takes to generate a static dashboard if that dashboard hasn't changed much in many years and cannot answer their question here, today. For business users, Live Analytics is a game-changer. By using the drill-anywhere, ask-anything framework, they can go from answering "What" questions to "What next" and "What if" in a single session without delay. Business users will understand the true potential of Snowflake's modern architecture only if the time and energy to generate insight, what I call the curiosity tax, is removed. These users will become Snowflake champions.?
  3. Turn third-party data into use cases quickly: As my colleague and industry legend Cindi Howson pointed out in her trends guide for 2022, leveraging third-party data is essential for businesses. With Snowflake's data marketplace, customers can access a variety of data sources. Still, the value comes when that data is applied to specific use cases. This is where SpotApps , pre-built applications for various use cases, come in. We have SpotApps built and ready to be consumed in financial services, retail/CPG, and healthcare. You can move from deployment to consumption by business users within hours, not weeks or months—improved time-to-value results in high satisfaction scores for your internal and external customers.?
  4. Make AI integral, not optional: Bringing together proprietary data and third-party data can unlock immense value for a company. The problem is sifting through all of it to find the proverbial needle in the haystack. That's too much for any human. A well-designed AI engine must be used to process all that complex data with accuracy and speed to find the nuggets that matter most. SpotIQ from ThoughtSpot makes a massive difference in this regard.?

Our customers often want us to challenge their thinking to see if it can be improved. Rebuilding their business on data takes a great deal of time, resources, and courage. They're putting their careers on the line and want to ensure they got it right. They know that interest will go away if they cannot deliver immediate value to their business users.

This is where legacy tools like Power BI, or Tableau, can reduce Snowflake's value. We have seen increased engagement by the business when ThoughtSpot is connected live to Snowflake. At a very large healthcare customer, they doubled their use of Snowflake every week for four weeks because of the massive value they saw after we rolled out our first use case.?That is the whole point of doing a cloud transformation!

Next time, before you go with the default on the BI layer, consider ThoughtSpot. The proof is in the consumption.
