The Four Users of LinkedIn??

Passover starts tonight – the holiday that commemorates the Israelites exodus from Egypt. My family has a love-hate relationship with this holiday.
We love the Seder - the celebratory meal - matzah ball soup, brisket and all the goodies.
But we (and by we, I mean my kids) hate the week that follows – no bread, pasta, crackers, etc. It’s a good time for a low-carb diet!
Anyway, I am not here to talk to you about what I am eating. I want to share a part of the Haggadah (the series of prayers and readings for the Seder) and where I see it relates to LinkedIn.??
During the Seder we read about the Four Children. Each of these metaphorical children asks a question about the Passover tradition with a different attitude and we are obliged to answer so that everyone understands. This made me think about the different attitudes LinkedIn users have and how those impact their use of the platform.
May I present...The Four Users of LinkedIn!
?? The Wise LinkedIn User seeks knowledge and want to details about the specific meaning of things. They are curious and excited by the new features, seek to make the most of their profile, build a strong network, share content that creates conversation and are genuinely engaged with their community.
?? The Wicked LinkedIn User focuses on themselves first, not their community. They send spam and use automation tools - they take before they give. They forsake the terms of service but often because they simply don’t know or received misguided advice. We can help them to see there is a better way…or maybe they end up in LinkedIn Jail and see the error of their ways.
?? The Elementary LinkedIn User wants to understand the basics. Let’s be honest, this is a complex platform and can be extremely overwhelming. By starting slowly, building on small wins, committing to consistency and digging deep into patience, their confidence and comfort builds.
?? The LinkedIn User Who Doesn’t Know How to Ask are the Lurkers. They scroll and read but don’t engage. Maybe they don’t know where to start or maybe that’s all they want from LinkedIn. But we can acknowledge their value and often are surprised by them.
During the Seder, “reciting The Four Children?reminds us of the obligation to teach the next generation about [the] story [of the Exodus], and…respect the way each one learns and interacts in the world and respond accordingly and appropriately.”
On LinkedIn, we are all here for different reasons and have unique goals. There is no absolute right or wrong…just different approaches.
Thanks for sticking with my Passover metaphor.
Chag Sameach to those to celebrate and for everyone else, please don’t tell me that you love the taste of matzah…it’s not good. ?
Do you want to see a MAGIC TRICK???I can take a blog and turn it into 10+ LinkedIn posts…?? ??!!
But seriously, all too often people are inefficient when it comes to repurposing long form content on LinkedIn - mainly because they don't see the treasure-trove of content at their fingertips!
?It takes time and effort to produce a blog, podcast, white paper, case study, or presentation. When you make the investment to create long-form content, why not use it in as many ways as you possibly can? It is smart, efficient and serves as a subtle way to remind your audience about your area of expertise.
Here are some examples of how to use long-form content in multiple ways:
?Of course, you will want to spread these out over several weeks and mix in content on other topics you tend to discuss. But thinking about creative & efficient ways to use your content will support your overall strategy on LinkedIn.

2 年Love this analogy ~Rachel. Great explanation of two things that many people likely don’t understand. Particularly relevant to me as my husband is Jewish, so I always appreciate learning more about the faith and traditions.
