The Four A's of Stress
The Four A’s of stress- a great way to help manage stress is to practice the 4 A's of stress - avoid, alter, adapt and acceptance. We can't live a completely stress-free life, but we can manage it.
Avoid - avoiding people who cause stress. Limiting the amount of time, you spend with people who cause stress but can’t avoid, learning to say “No”, knowing your own limits. Having healthy boundaries.
Alter – alter the way you handle stressful situations. Learn to communicate not internalize your feelings.
Adapt – if you can’t change the stressor, change how you react. It can mean changing your expectations and attitude. Making sure you have realistic expectations. It can mean reframing your problems- changing perspective (looking at what your grateful for) and looking at the big picture. Will this matter in a few weeks? months?
Acceptance – accepting what you can’t change and working on what you can control. Forgiveness towards yourself and others.
