Four steps to navigating inflation

Inflation is here. In the US, it's over 5%. The Bank of England warns it could reach 4% in the UK. These high levels - and the consequent interest rate hikes - may lead to changes in business fundamentals that we haven't seen for some time.
As in any emerging situation, the question for us is, what does this mean to our mid-market clients? A few days ago, our US and UK Regional Directors had a virtual conference to discuss that very question.
The stories are dramatic. The changes are affecting almost every business sector, from construction to investment management. Clients are already seeing sharp rises in building materials, fuel, and wages.
So we are indeed concerned. At the same time, we're already seeing some winners - mid-market businesses making smart decisions to maintain margins, and even grow in a crisis.

3 年A very timely article considering the inflationary pressures we are already seeing and those expected to emerge. If we take into consideration the Infrastructure bill and other spending Congress may promote, it's no telling where inflation will go. Taking action now is an important step in protecting your business. Nice article Graeme.
