Four Questions To Ask Yourself To Create A Healthy Food Plan

When people come to me for hypnosis for weight reduction, they ask what to eat to feel great, and have peace around food. In essence food has become an ‘enemy’ of sorts.
And there are answers to all their questions.
There is a basic food plan that needs to be modified for each person’s food sensitivities or specific likes and dislikes. Eat Right For Your Blood Type—O, A, B, or AB is the basic food plan. Eating for your blood type will help you trim down and get healthier. That's the idea behind the Blood Type Diet, created by Naturopath Peter J. D'Adamo, N.D.
D'Adamo has proven that the foods you eat react chemically with your blood type. If you follow a diet designed for your blood type, your body will digest food more efficiently. You'll reduce weight, have more energy, and help prevent disease.
I’ve helped hundreds of people to reduce weight and heal their relationship with food for 30+ years. I use the Eat Right For Your Blood Type food plan and have improved my health. In 72-hours of not eating wheat, I no longer have a low dull headache. And the joint issue that prompted me to seek assistance to prevent on-going joint pain disappeared in two weeks.
This is not to say that everyone will have the same quick relief. However, I know from working with hundreds of people, everyone experiences improvement in emotional and physical health.
There are four questions that will deliver the insight you seek, if you are honest with yourself when you give the answers.
Before you can use these four questions you need to create a clean slate. When your brain is foggy with junk food, you can’t trust it to give you a clear signal.
For thirty days commit to a food plan without sugar, wheat, eating only at meal times, and some method for containing quantities (using a digital food scale is my favorite method, but a “no seconds†rule works for some people, too).
Then you can use these four questions to test out any variations you might want to explore.
For example, maybe you’re wondering if drinking coffee causes feeling hyper. Is it best to eat more at dinner if you had a light lunch? Can you handle one packet of Stevia in your tea? Perhaps you want to have fruit or a MUFA* in the middle of the afternoon because you get too hungry before dinner.
*Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) are a healthy type of fat. Replacing less healthy fats, such as saturated fats and trans fats, with unsaturated fats, such as MUFAs and polyunsaturated fats, offer health benefits.
Even though I've been committed to Eat Right For Your Blood Type for over two decades, I still run up against quandaries like these. For example: Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cheese, Oatmeal are a safe food for my blood type, but, they cause more bloating than I am willing to accept. Therefore, I only eat them occasionally and sparingly.
My latest one is: Am I using too much cinnamon in my smoothie? Yes, one teaspoon was too much….1/2 teaspoon is perfect.
Here are the FOUR QUESTIONS I ask myself when I'm wondering whether something I’m doing with my food is okay for me or not:
1. Do I have peace of mind? (Or am I thinking about it a lot before, during or after I eat it?)
2. Is it healthy For My Blood Type?
3. Does it mess with my weight—i.e. weight spike or bloating?
4. Have I had an allergic reaction after eating something new?
I asked myself these questions in regard to my morning cinnamon consumption.
Do I have peace around it? I would say that I have 95% peace. I do not think about it before, during, or after. The only lack of peace is that I noticed I had a burning sensation in my stomach. I reduced the amount from one teaspoon to ? teaspoon and Volia` No burning sensation.
Is Cinnamon healthy? Yes, cinnamon is very healthy. There are thirteen benefits.
You can do a Google search on the health benefits of any food substance. Use an independent source vs the manufacturer. Cinnamon is healthy enough that enterprising business people have put it into a supplement category.
In the ‘Is It Healthy?’ category I ascertain if the food item is Genetically Modified or a crop is raised with pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. Here are check lists to assist you to research healthy food.
GMO produced food Organic/Non-GMO Producers,
Does it mess with my weight? No.
Does it cause an Allergic reaction? Yes. When I reduced the amount per day, I experienced no allergic reaction. Therefore, I can use cinnamon as a healthy taste enhancer and supplement with 13 benefits. I do not deviate from the ? teaspoon per day.
Based on my answers to these four questions, I conclude, for now, that my cinnamon use is fine after making the adjustment. If my stomach starts to feel less comfortable, though, I'll measure a smaller quantity, or I'll eliminate the frequency, because I love cinnamon.
For me, the most important question on the list is #1.
Today my food consumption is NEUTRAL, HEALTHY, NUTRITIOUS, Organic, Non-GMO and Right for My Blood Type with making modifications to meet my food likes, dislikes and sensitivities.
I eat it.
I enjoy it.
That’s not to say that it’s bland and boring.
It’s DELICIOUS.
It’s BOUNTIFUL.
I look forward to eating.
I feel satisfied when I’m done.
I do not need to be THINKING about it, before or after.
No obsession.
No planning out various concoctions or combinations in my head.
None of the tortuous - “Will I?†“Won’t I?†“Should I?†“Shouldn't I?†OH what the ??!!#*%## I gained weight again, and I stayed within calorie count.
So for me, anything I’m eating that disrupts my serenity is a candidate for, ‘off my food plan.’
I have no patience for food obsession or craving.
One extra and last question that I think is important.
“Does the food item cause me to feel bad—guilty, shameful or anxious for eating it?â€
For many people, food has moral, emotional and tradition overtones. After following Eat Right For Your Blood Type (sometimes perfectly, sometimes less-than-perfectly) for over two decades. I feel GOOD about the food I’m eating. But it wasn't that way before. And certainly, if anything I’m eating causes me to feel emotionally or physically bad, in any way, that’s a huge red flag. That is a subset of Question #1. If the food causes me to feel emotionally or physically bad, then why torture myself?
And peace of mind and physical wellness IS the end all be all.
My hope for you today is that you will eat the foods that bring you peace and wellness.
