Four new health centres planned in Qatar

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has chalked out a plan to set up four more primary health centres (HCs) across the country, providing a further fillip to Qatar's healthcare sector. The new centres will come in Al Hilal, Bani Hajer, Umm Ghuwailina and Khalifa City. The news HCs will be opened by 2024. These are in addition to five health centres that are expected to be handed over by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in 2021. The PHCC's plan is to focus on creating new HCs with a system that is different from the one found in the old centres. This will be done by introducing many new services with the aim of further developing medical services by increasing the number of specialised clinics for dental, ENT, chronic and skin disease treatment along with physiotherapy. Besides, wellness services that aim to preserve health before reaching the stage of illness will also be introduced.

Meanwhile, the buildings of five new health centres in Al Sadd, South Al Wakra, Al Meshaf, Ain Khaled and Al Khor are expected to be handed over to the MoPH this year, taking the number of PHCC HCs to 32. Ashghal has completed the main works of the South Al Wakra Health Centre. These have been carried out by the Building Projects Department to serve about 360 visitors a day, while works are continuing on schedule at the four other health centres as well.
