The Harris Federation will be opening 4 new academies this term bringing the total number of schools run by the Federation in and around London to 44.
Sir Dan Moynihan, Chief Executive of the Harris Federation, said:
“I’D LIKE TO WELCOME OUR NEW STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO THE HARRIS FEDERATION. THE FOUR ACADEMIES WE ARE OPENING THIS TERM ARE ALL VERY DIFFERENT – FROM A SMALL PRIMARY WITH A DISTINCTIVE VILLAGE SCHOOL CHARACTER TO A BRAND NEW FREE SCHOOL TO MEET THE HIGH DEMAND FOR SECONDARY PLACES IN THURROCK.
“THE FEDERATION HAS A STRONG TRACK RECORD IN SUPPORTING SCHOOLS; WE ARE CONFIDENT THAT, WITH THE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT AND RESOURCES GAINED FROM BEING PART OF OUR FAMILY OF ACADEMIES, WE CAN DELIVER AN EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION FOR ALL OUR STUDENTS AND RAPIDLY ACCELERATE EACH ACADEMY’S JOURNEY TOWARDS BECOMING ‘OUTSTANDING’.”
The new academies are:
Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green, a single form entry primary academy in the heart of Beckenham Green;
Harris Academy St John’s Wood, a secondary academy which replaces Quinton Kynaston school (previously in special measures);
Harris Academy Riverside in Thurrock, with 120 places each year which was set up to meet local demand for secondary school places and
Harris Garrard Academy, an all-through academy with places from reception to sixth form, replacing The Garrard Academy (previously in special measures).
In addition, Year 7 admissions have begun for the new Harris secondary academies in Wimbledonand Sutton opening in September 2018 and for our new Professional Skills Sixth Form in Bromley which will offer 170 professional skills places from September 2018.
