Four ingenious advertising campaigns

Four ingenious advertising campaigns

Whether you’re working for a company like Coca cola or a small company in the countryside we all aim for the same thing when creating campaigns; to increase our brand recognition.

The time comes when you have to put your heads together and create an attention grabbing campaign whether you chose to aim for shocking, funny, annoying (go compare) or just perfectly timed with current affairs.

I want to share with you four campaigns that have stood out to me.

1. Red Bull: Stratos - The biggest and boldest mega stunt.

Although Red Bull insists it was not an advertising campaign and merely a scientific mission the footage from the stunt was featured in an ad campaign in January 2013. The stunt was viewed over 207 million times.

The stunt involved Felix Baumgartner an Austrian sky diver free fall from 24 miles above the earth breaking five records one of them being the first human to break the sound barrier without engine power.

2. Evian- baby and me

Evian have been very popular with all their campaigns however; baby and me has been Evian’s most successful ad campaign yet. Not only did they incorporate humour into their adverts they also created an app to create your very own baby to get more people engaged. This then became a viral craze overnight with people sharing their pictures around the world. This particular advert was viewed over 129 million times on YouTube.

3. Haribo- Board room meeting

Haribo use voice overs of children in adult scenarios to signify that we all have a fun inner child. This ingenious idea has racked up over 4 million views on YouTube and continues to be talked about. My personal favourite is the board room meeting.

4. Dairy milk- Drumming gorilla

Nearly 10 years on and everyone still remembers the gorilla playing the drums to in the air tonight by Phil Collins in an empty recording studio. The ad went viral, watched by millions on YouTube and inspiring parodies from the likes of Wonderbra, The Mighty Boosh and Children in Need. It won a clutch of awards, including the top prize at Cannes Lions, the advertising industry’s biggest celebration, in 2008. This successful campaign will go down in history as the nation’s all-time favourite.
