Four Home Improvements You Can Do for Cheap
Budgets are everything; personally, professionally and generally speaking, watching your wallet is an important part of everyday life. When it comes to making changes to our homes, there’s a never ending to-do list. Whether you’re planning on selling your home, or just looking to increase its overall value, there are a few changes you can make- and do them on the cheap- for the benefit of home improvement and to make it a bit more desirable.
THE FRONT DOOR
Seems simple, right? The front door actually says a lot about your home. There’s no need to upgrade your door, but you can easily add some new hardware or a fresh coat of paint. Doorbells and inexpensive lighting are also ways that can brighten your home’s entrance. Even purchasing a new doormat or adding a pot of flowers can make your visitors feel more at home.
JUST PAINT IT
Painting may seem like it’s too simple, but it’s one of the easiest fixes you can make to your home. Paint colors can add traditional flare to your design, or make your home more modern. Keep in mind that if you have high ceilings or the walls need repairs, this can become costly- but it’s all about budgeting. Even painting a simple accent wall is a great way to brighten up a home.
UPDATE LIGHTING
Lighting is everything; even if it’s something as simple as a floor or table lamp to (literally) brighten a room. It’s easy to change out an aging chandelier, a broken ceiling fan, or to change out the fading bulbs on your back patio. If you want to kick it up a notch, you can install brand new lighting in the kitchen, accent lights in the living room, or even upgrade the lightbulbs in your home. Incorporating smart home devices is also a simple idea to make a home seem modern and eco-friendly. Light switches, light bulbs and electric plugs that pair with Alexa and Home Pod devices are available on Amazon and even in your local Best Buy stores.
CHANGE OUT THE HARDWARE
Though I touched on this briefly above regarding your front door, upgrading the hardware throughout your home is an easy and affordable fix. Change the handles on your kitchen cabinets. Update the broken knobs in your bathroom. Replace the gold hardware. You could even change out knobs on dressers and furniture that date your home- and it can be done for a fraction of the cost of renovating an entire room, or buying a brand new bedroom set.
