This post is for you if your offline or online business targets millennials and Gen Z — well, most businesses have them as their audience. It's also for those who are building a thought-leadership brand.
According to a report by EuroMonitor, as of 2021, millennials and Gen Z's make about 46% of world population. What a jackpot if they are your target audience.
However, these two sets of human beings are quite unique and if you'll reach them you must have a very dynamic and robust marketing strategy in place.
Firstly, it is smart to note that these two generations are very tech-savvy hence your best bet to reach them is via the internet — social media especially.
Let's now dive further into the four pillars of engaging these audience segments.
1 YOU MUST BE INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE
With these minds, there is no room for anything stale, archaic and uninteresting. You've got to be dynamic and exciting or you get passed over.
2. YOUR PRICING MATTERS
This customer segment is diverse. There are working class among them as well as students at various levels of education — majorly high school and college. Hence, affordability means different things to different segments within these markets and your pricing must consider these factors. You should endeavour to tailor your pricing to accommodate the diversified groups and subsets within these market segments.

3. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BRAND IDENTITY, VALUES AND WHAT YOU PROJECT.
Gen Z's value inclusively and fun while millennials may tilt more towards convenience and a little indulgence. Ensure you develop your product or services around these values or you will lose them.
4. SUPPORT ACTIVISM
These two market segments are quite assertive and expressive about their feelings and ideologies — grounded or not. If you are perceived to be neutral or indifferent to their opinions and agitations, you lose them. Show some solidarity, community spirit and embrace social inclusion and you will be in their good books.
P.S:
— Millennials are those born between 1980/81-1995 — I am proudly one.
— Gen Z's are those born 1996 to 2009/10. *The dates are debatable though.
