Why Kickstarter?

I started looking for a way to determine how to raise funds and I saw that there was a product trending on Kickstarter called? DIE: The Roleplaying Game that has raised 530,320 dollars on a 37,000 dollar goal and I thought to myself, wow. People will give half a million dollars for a game,? I wonder what they would give to the healthcare worker who is getting assaulted.?

I know that if we had a platform to give, the people would come.?

The process of learning how to leverage a platform can take days, weeks, months even. But we don't have that time. Each day that passes I wake up to a new breaking news story of a shooting, stabbing or episode of violence so I don’t have that time.?

When I lay down to sleep at night, I can’t.?

I feel this weight, the expectation of not only my Cortex team but all the healthcare professionals that we can help knowing we have a great solution, we just need to get it out there.?

Kickstarter is a really great option for companies to get the ball rolling. Not only does it force you to organize your ideas but it also gives you some great market testing feedback.? In healthcare we do not get courses in business so the past 3 years of building Cortex has been the greatest learning experience. It’s incredibly humbling. I can save lives in the ICU but when it comes to social media marketing I am lost in the sauce. Just proves you can learn anything from youtube. I can’t wait until Cortex gets to the point where I can bring in some hipster kid who produces content at a rate that I can titrate drips.?

This campaign will allow us to grow and build a program worthy of my colleagues.?

Honestly, it’s not for me. It's for the kids that signed up to be nurses during the pandemic. Watching the footage of us on TV with facial lacerations from masks and wearing garbage bags for PPE and they still dealt with the hell of nursing school. They are cleaning their white sneakers and buying perfectly packaged bundles of scissors, penlights and stethoscope holders preparing to enter a worksite where 40% of them will leave within the first year because they don't feel physically safe at work.?

This is not ok. And it's time for us to do something about it.?
