A founders insights on creating a winning scaleup culture

In short, diversity is key. And I will elaborate on this.

I believe it’s important for Moneyflow, or any scaleup for that matter, to employ people with different nationalities and educational backgrounds because it ensures that you will never run out of new and alternative perspectives, which will always strengthen the business.

Combining this with a social, but professional, work environment that is founded on mutual respect, openness and cooperation, you will naturally grow a business that is both healthy financially and culturally. At the same time we are rooted in a Nordic culture where transparency and respect is evident in everything we do.

To summarize - since Moneyflow wants to succeed in a culturally diverse world, creating solutions for a diverse range of customers and in many different markets. We are carrying diversity in our business-DNA.

I think that the main strength of the Moneyflow team is that we are a closely knitted group in some ways, and very diverse and flexible in others. We work hard to find the absolutely best ways of getting people paid and we do so in teams across Moneyflow. From developers to sales, from risk and underwriters to marketing and customer service, each individual brings their own specific knowledge, culture and background to make it the best possible solution for our customers. We work remotely from Berlin, the Baltics etc, with colleagues from all over the world. Out of the ca 40 employees we are from more than 10 different countries, but we all work on the same solutions and vision.

In terms of diversity, when we are hiring, I encourage my department heads to not only focus on skills. To me, it is incredibly important to hire employees whose personalities and backgrounds will fit into, but also challenge, our team because I believe that an employee's skills can and will develop faster, if they are in the right environment.

In terms of culture, I strongly believe in freedom with responsibility, no matter if it is on site or when working remotely. Furthermore, I am always looking at what can be done to improve the work environment, and I encourage the team to give any and all suggestions, whether it’s putting a hammock in the office, organising team dinners, or having Friday-bars, which I can only hope turn into full nights out.?

Skills can and will develop faster, when in the right environment. And more than anything we hire based on attitude and drive. With the right mindset most skills follow.?

The most surprising thing to me about the Moneyflow team is how quickly and easily the social relationships grow, both professionally and personally. It might be a sign of the times, but to me it seems that there, in the team, is a genuine interest in learning from and about each other in a way that cannot and should not be forced by management. This has to happen organically, and it is. This makes me believe that we have put together just the right team for Moneyflow, and at the end of the day, they are Moneyflow!
