Foundational Fridays -- Winners Wisdom

Foundational Fridays -- Winners Wisdom

It has been a few weeks since I published a Foundational Fridays post. In part, because of personal and professional travel these past several weeks that got in the way a little.

I also want to ensure when I do post, I'm sharing something that interested or inspired me during that week. In some respects, it has been a way to "end" the workweek with a reflective thought. While traveling, my focus was elsewhere, and it is important to me to share things that matter over just posting to post.

Thinking back across the past four days, and looking forward to the next few, I'm reminded of the beautiful blessings of the two world-class teams on which I play a role.

My primary roles and responsibilities with Gartner stretched me a bit this week. That's not a complaint, rather, there were some moments when I knew stepping back was needed to be best present and prepared with and for my clients. Having the ability to lean on teammates for their insights, information, and intelligence was both helpful and healthful.

Helpful in terms of they provided what I needed to best support my clients. Healthful in terms of knowing I can count on them, which lessens unnecessary, and unhealthful, burdens and stress. The incredible caliber and character of every person on that team is nothing short of amazing. That's looking back across the past four days.

Looking forward to the next three, I will be spending time with the other team on which I perform. Someone messaged me earlier this week about what an astounding collection of people that team has. Navy SEALS, Top Gun Fighter Pilots, General Officers, Fortune 500 Executives, Olympic athletes and coaches and more. While I personally know a number of these world-class leaders from our time working together in the Air Force, most I've yet to meet in person.

Our team offsite this weekend and into early next week will lead to some additional bonding that can only be best effectuated in person and will set conditions for Victory Strategies continuing growth and ability to impact developing leaders anywhere and everywhere.

Sharing I've arrived at a place and point in my life's journey where I have the opening and opportunity to use my experience and expertise as a former Human Resources Executive to help current HR Execs realize success for themselves and their organizations. I also am able share and showcase 30 years of lived, learned, and led leadership in high stress, high stakes roles to help develop better leaders.

There are many things I cherish in my life; faith, family, friends to be sure. Coupling those personal things together with my professional purpose and passion has me in a sweet and serendipitous spot in life right now.

Being in a place and position where I can pursue those purposes and passions would not be possible without being on teams where everyone celebrates other's successes, encourages each other, and helps one another achieve as well.

Jim's quote reminded me how important it is to not only live out the truths he tells, but also the importance of taking a few minutes and moments in this Foundational Friday forum to publicly say thank you to those teammates!

NOTE: Winners Wisdom is a weekly column Jim Stovall has written and circulated for decades now. I've lost count of how many hundreds of them I've read. I have at least eight of his books on the shelves in my home office, six of which he gifted to me. Jim is one of those life teammates whose wisdom has taught me a ton over the years.

Shawn Campbell, I couldn't agree more with the quote here. There's room for all of us, why not support those along the way!
