Photoshoot by Bart Kuykens for his new book 'A flat 6 Love Affair'

October 3 - 2016

For several weeks we picked this day to arrange a photoshoot for the book 'a flat 6 love affair'. We planned to do the shoot in a nearby town in Germany, near to an old factory. Just 2 days before the photoshoot took place, we found out the place was packed with carousels, German beer tents and many more attraction. Not much place left to put a Martini T 1970, a very exclusive Carrera 2 Cup 1990 (only 50 made) and a Miami Blue 991. So we went to look for an alternative, ending up nearby my own house with a gentle farmer, providing the perfect contrast between the cars and the environment.

First step was to unload the beauties from the special Porsche Truck. Starting with the Martini T!

I started painting the Martini T on Zandvoort on the Historic Grandprix. Today was the first time the finished painting was re-united with the car.

On the picture below you see Bart Kuykens at work.

"Deep, moody, almost Gothic in tone, Bart’s monochrome photography captures the intimate relationship between man and machine. The results are timeless studies of an iconic design, frozen forever using an equally iconic Leica rangefinder camera. This is classic photography at the very highest level…"

Now it was time to unload the next beauty. A truly iconic car, not easy to get. We are talking here about a fully restored (964) Carrera 2 Cup. 1990 was the very first year the Carrera Cup took place. In that particular year only 50 pieces were built from this 964 Cup car. This particular car finished 3rd in that race. This car has a license plate, meaning it's legally allowed to drive in traffic and that makes this 964 unique! For more info on this car please visit the site of Porsche Groep Zuid.

Well you will be wondering, why I am showing a painting of a 911T in front of a beautiful 991 Miami Blue? Well here's the story. On the painting you see the 3.2L 1970- 911 Hot Rod owned by Bart Kuykens The car was supposed to be there as well, but the weather in Belgium was terrible and therefor Bart decided to travel with different transportation. Luckily the Dutch weather was much nicer and the blue sky was a perfect match to the 991 Miami Blue!

In the mean time the farmer was desperately trying to trade in a couple of his cows and 2 tractors for the Miami Blue Porsche.. no luck :-)

Well after a hard day working we made Bart very happy with his painting. The picture below, shows the original photograph I used to create the painting.
