When people see the value in their work, they feel responsible for it and are motivated to give their best. Although it may sound a bit tricky to keep your team motivated all the time, being a team leader, your team should know what the goals are and when the deadlines are, and then they should be able to decide how to accomplish the work. Encourage them to demonstrate creativity and innovation by setting high expectations. There are some leaders, even in today’s world of utter commercialism, who follow these simple yet 100% efficacious guidelines. One such shining star is Ahmed Bayoumi on the industry and commerce horizon of the UAE. Ahmed Bayoumi is the CEO of Global Food Industries, a recognized Food & Beverage company based in the UAE, that has been named among Asia’s Best Workplaces in 2021.

Ahmed Bayoumi, the CEO of Global Food Industries (GFI) and International Beverage and Filling Industries (IBFI), has taken on the challenge of leading the company into a new era of growth. Ahmed joined GFI and IBFI in February 2020 and has since been instrumental in putting together a team of F&B industry specialists to help drive and propel GFI and IBFI’s future growth. An organization’s top management must take the initiative to create a great work environment, Ahmed says. When Ahmed refers to the work environment, he includes everything that affects employees’ involvement in the work itself, including their relationship with coworkers and supervisors, organizational culture, and opportunities for personal development.


Work Life Balance

According to Ahmed, employees who work in a positive environment feel good about coming to work, and this provides them with the motivation needed to continue through the day. Work and personal life must be balanced in some way. Employees will be more satisfied with their jobs if they feel that they aren’t overlooking areas of their lives that are just as, if not more, important to them as work, he further adds.

They will feel more confident about themselves and perform better at work when they fulfill their various needs and goals in life, including those related to family, friends, spiritual growth, and self-improvement. Additionally, employees who have a wider range of experiences outside of work can apply those experiences to their jobs. As a result, work-life balance can foster creativity, Ahmed concludes.


Setting Examples to Follow

If you want your team to move forward, act more and discover more, leaders need to set an example and create the perfect atmosphere, Ahmed says. By doing so, they demonstrate what their true potential is.

In addition to putting in loads of effort and sacrificing their personal time, ‘good’ employees or workers are often defined as those who perform well under pressure. The majority of employees are simply workaholics who would rather neglect their personal lives for work. Ahmed firmly believes that managers need to show that this is wrong by rewarding employees who stick to a healthy work-life balance (for example, leaving work on time) while still achieving excellent performance. He also proposes that in addition to educating employees about work-life balance, organizations may include it in their mission statements or even adopt a firm stance on the issue.

Setting the right example is one of the best ways to gain others’ respect and build credibility as a leader. Lead by example so others will emulate your behavior. It is necessary to set high standards for yourself if you expect a lot from your team. If you align your words with your actions, your team will trust you more and follow you more closely.

Ahmed is dedicated to delivering outstanding business results while simultaneously restructuring business models in order to achieve sustainable growth. He believes in effective and engaging leadership that gives all team members the opportunity to grow. Ahmed’s primary goal is to build high performance teams that are entrepreneurial in nature. According to him, leadership involves communicating clearly, concisely, and tactfully. Being able to listen attentively to others and respond appropriately does not suffice when it comes to effective communication. Additionally, it includes sharing valuable information, asking smart questions, soliciting input and new ideas, clear-cutting misunderstandings, and prioritizing your objectives. From years of experience in the industry Ahmed has observed that to be an effective leader, it is imperative to be able to make rapid, difficult decisions with limited information. Decide what you are trying to accomplish before making a tough decision. Examine your options and the likely consequences of your choice. Decide with conviction, accept responsibility for your decision, and put it into action. You will gain the respect of your teammates and be able to capitalize on opportunities by being a resolute and confident decision-maker, Ahmed adds.

Visionary leaders know where they want to go, what success looks like and how to get there. Ahmed emphasizes on making sure that your team understands how their efforts contribute to higher level goals by articulating your vision clearly and passionately. Persistence, tenacity, and enthusiasm are traits that will inspire and motivate others to follow in your footsteps. Those who lead with integrity rely on their values for guidance in their decisions, behavior, and interactions, Ahmed says. Credible, principled, ethical, and consistent, they are respected for maintaining a clear understanding of what is right and wrong. These people keep their promises, have a strong sense of character, and communicate openly, honestly, and directly with other people. Your employees will respect you for demonstrating integrity through your daily actions if you do so.

Knowing the Ins and Outs

A powerful habit of inspiring leaders is recognizing achievement regularly and consistently. The ability to stretch oneself and strive for excellence requires that he/she feels valued and appreciated for all the efforts. Ahmed strongly says that you should celebrate your employees’ achievements, even if it’s simply by saying “well done” (although you should definitely do more). Not only will this boost morale, but it will also keep them motivated to keep working hard.
