On June 18th, HD Hyundai Electric held a significant event at the Northern Lights College (NLC) FSJ Campus in British Columbia, where key representatives from HD Hyundai Electric and BC Hydro gathered. During this event, HD Hyundai Electric generously donated CAD 100,000 to the Northern Lights College Foundation (NLCF).

Contributing to Advancements in Green Energy Sector

The donated amount from HD Hyundai Electric is earmarked for investment in the NLC Energy Institute. Through this program, NLC aims to establish itself as a leading institution in the field of green energy, focusing on solar, geothermal, and wind energy.

Fostering Skilled Energy Technicians

This initiative is expected to address the growing demand for skilled energy technicians in British Columbia, ultimately helping to resolve the shortage of technical personnel and providing employment opportunities for local workers.

Visit to Site C Dam

Following the donation ceremony, representatives from HD Hyundai Electric and BC Hydro visited the Site C Dam, located in Peace River, north of Vancouver, to inspect the installation site of ten 512.5kV GSU transformers supplied by HD Hyundai Electric. In 2019, we secured an order for these 10 units for the Site C Dam project, completing delivery in 2023 with the goal of commercial operation by late 2024. Additionally, in 2018, we supplied 12 units of 500kV/100MVA transformers for the South Bank Substation, bringing the total number of transformers supplied to 22 units.

Site C Dam Project

The Site C dam project, managed by BC Hydro, is the largest dam construction project in Canada, with a massive investment of CAD $16 billion. Once completed in 2024, the dam is expected to supply electricity to 450,000 households annually, accounting for 8% of the total power demand in British Columbia.

Gathering efforts for community development

BC Hydro has been continuously working with NLC to develop and expand job training programs related to the Site C project. HD Hyundai Electric's donation aims to improve educational conditions in the British Columbia community, leveraging its close cooperation with BC Hydro.
