Fostering Diversity and Inclusion

Fostering Diversity and Inclusion

Today, 'inclusivity' is the word that underpins the strategy behind many corporate events. In golf, that's usually in the form of a beginners' clinic open to non-golfers that shows the hosting company's appetite for supporting employees (or clients) wishing to take up the game. It's also a visible opportunity to address workplace imbalances, overcome negative perceptions of the game, and actively encourage more people to start playing (recognising the business values of doing so).

Our advisory role.

For the last couple of years we have been encouraging clients to consider golf clinics within their D&I programmes. Recent activity (post-pandemic) illustrates how our role and influence as an advisory service has evolved as our client relationships have deepened, as well as how valued golf remains in business circles.

Over the last 18 months, we have facilitated a number of beginners' clinics run by major companies within insurance, accountancy and IT. These have included one-off events, indoor clinics in the City, and a series structured across the 2022 season. The aim for all has been to broaden participation, particularly among women.

It’s a long-term strategy but has the potential to increase the number of golfers within their own companies and their business sectors more widely.?From a golf club perspective, being able to offer a well-constructed clinic can be the deciding factor in choice of venue.
