Foster Inclusive Equitable World

An estimated 1.3 billion people experience significant disability. This represents 16% of the world's population which is 1 in 6 among us. Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day(GAAD). Let us ensure people with disabilities have the same rights as the wider population, including their ability to engage with, learn from, and communicate via the digital world.

Read the story of a Indian women, who made a difference:

It all began when Upasana met a visually impaired woman who expressed frustration at the limited reading options. Determined to make a difference, Upasana embarked on a mission to create a magazine catering to the interests and aspirations of the visually impaired community.

White Print was born in 2013 and is India's first English lifestyle magazine in Braille, specifically designed for the visually impaired community. White Print worked tirelessly to ensure the magazine offered the visually impaired a rich and immersive reading experience. They combined Braille with high-quality tactile images and readable fonts, making it accessible to those who read Braille and those with low vision.

Beyond its content, White Print also promotes inclusivity and accessibility in various aspects. For example, the magazine features stories highlighting the achievements and talents of visually impaired individuals, challenging societal perceptions and stereotypes.

The magazine has empowered visually impaired readers by providing them with a source of information, entertainment, and inspiration. In addition, it has become a platform for visually impaired individuals to share their stories, express their perspectives, and connect with a broader community.

The story of White Print showcases the transformative power of accessibility awareness. It's a unique platform that addresses the information needs of the visually impaired and advocates for a more inclusive society.

Let us start today by breaking such barriers and empowering individuals with disabilities.

By recognising the potential of every individual and providing equal access to information, we can foster a more inclusive and equitable world.
