The Story
Yeah, I know I'm able to improve my system. And I am.
I'm not perfect and I know what I can do to improve. I want to share them with you today. Here are a few ideas to help you develop better business relationships. And increased sales.
Let's get started…
ADOPT A SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY:
Follow up as many times as necessary until you get a response. Period! End!
In today's busy world we don't know what others are going through so don't stop because you don't want to interrupt someone. Keep reaching out. If they don't want you to contact them, let them tell you by opting-out. (Make sure you have a way for them to opt-out otherwise, it's considered spam.)
It doesn't matter what the response is as long as you get one. It may seem pushy. However, the person you're connecting with may need your services, just not at this moment. Build a relationship. Each connection is a benefit, they might have something you need.
You don't have to be selling anything when you connect. Ask great questions and discover something about the person. Not as the client, but as a person.Relationships
THE KEY IS TO KEEP FOLLOWING UP
If someone tells you they're not interested—Leave them alone. There are a lot of other people out there you can meet.
Additionally, if they don’t respond at all, keep pinging them until they do. And trust me, they always do, eventually.
So when you're out networking or connecting with someone new, make sure to let them know you're going to follow up with them.
Why? To establish expectations.
Solution #1
Set Expectations
Make sure to tell them you will follow up,
Then follow up.
Always call or email within 48 hours of meeting someone telling them it was nice to meet them, asking about their business and letting them know you will continue to follow up.
Be genuine, don't promise or tell them things that you won't do. Once again if you tell them you are going to follow up, FOLLOW UP! Unless they say, no thank you.
Solution #2
Make it Special or Personal
People do business with those they know, like and trust. If it fits your brand, be more conversational in customer communication. Also, depending on your business it's a great tip to connect on a professional network like Linkedin and take the time to learn something about the person. Hobbies, anniversaries, promotions and birthdays. Wish them Happy Birthday, tell them congratulations on their new position. It's all about the new relationship and nurturing that relationship.
Solution #3
Take more than one action
There are several ways you can go the extra mile.
When you create a cascading effect of caring about a person, there are multiple efforts you can take to reach out. The Extra Mile is always less crowded than the others.
SO, when you make the effort, you're more likely to develop a better relationship that the person just asking for another favor.
Quick Tip!
In addition to email, phone calls, and meetings, you can also slip something in the mail to them – a letter, brochure, text message, sharing a bit of valuable information, or a simple thank you note or something to keep you and your brand at the top of their mind.
